Maree Anderson writes adult paranormal romance, fantasy, and sci-fi. She also writes young adult books featuring a cyborg struggling to navigate high school and human emotions, and a girl who feels like she’s invisible… only to discover she really is! Maree tried really (really!) hard to write real life books, but when even a sexy contemporary romance ended up with a heroine who’s unknowingly a cat-shifter under a zodiac curse, she gave in to the inevitable.

Maree lives in beautiful New Zealand, home of hobbits, elves, and kiwis – both the fruit and the two-legged flightless variety. She is a current member of Romance Writers of New Zealand, and in 2007 received the RWNZ Founder’s Award for her services to Romance Writers of New Zealand.

Prior to publication, Maree entered the RWNZ Clendon Award with her very first attempt at writing a novel – a fantasy manuscript about a blind seer – and to her surprise, she was a finalist. A subsequent manuscript, about a cursed crystal warrior imprisoned in his namesake crystal, won the Clendon. Winning this award was the catalyst to chase her dream of becoming a published author, and that manuscript was eventually published as The Crystal Warrior, the first book in her popular Crystal Warriors paranormal romance series. Her first published novel for young adults, Freaks of Greenfield High, featuring teenage cyborg Jay, has over two million reads on Wattpad and was optioned for TV by Cream Drama in Canada. To the disappointment of Jay’s many fans, Freaks didn’t make it to the small screen, but it was a wild ride while it lasted! Another young adult book, Liminal, featuring teenager, Wren, who can phase in and out of the real world, was an Apple Books Best Book of August in 2013.

The fourth book in the Freaks series, Control Freaks, has recently been published, and the third book in the Angels and Demons series, A Demon Scorned, is due out soon for fans who insisted that Asmodeus, the Demon King, needed his own story.
