April Reads and re-reading old favorites

The Gap Into Conflict, The Real StoryNothing like re-reading old favorites–especially if they’re a big, meaty series of books that I can really get stuck into. Hence I’m continuing my Stephen Donaldson-fest this month, specifically The Gap series. I love the way he twists all his characters around, forcing me to re-evaluate my powerful first impressions about each one. His heroes become villans, villans become heroes, and victims who’ve been used and brutalized and betrayed, somehow find the strength to “redeem” the very people who used them in the first place. This series takes my breath away–even after the third or fourth read–and I found myself needing some “light relief” in between the book because they’re so darned powerful. Well worth checking out if you’re a fan of Sci-Fi.

And of course there’s Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh. If I could be any paranormal creature in the entire world, I’d be one of Nalini’s angels. If you haven’t read this book yet, all I can say is, “What’s wrong with you? Get thee to a bookstore immediately!” Like, before they’re all gone from the shelves. Angel’s Blood is an absolute must-read.
