I’m not sure how these are gonna look because I’m not the greatest photographer in the world & this fancy new camera had far to many settings to choose from! Regardless, I had so much fun at the Romance Writers of Australia Hot August Nights conference in Brisbane, that I simply had to share some photos.
I met an amazing bunch of people — they were all so very welcoming, & didn’t diss me about my Kiwi accent, either! And I felt incredibly privileged to have been called up on stage on Saturday morning to receive my First Sale ribbon from the lovely Bron Jameson, RomAus Pubbed Author Liaison. It was totally unexpected, but a moment I’ll remember forever.
First up photowise, is the RomAus eList dinner — a fantastic pre-conference ice-breaker for a rather nervous Kiwi!
Next up: the Romance Writers of Australia Arabian Nights Cocktail Party. (Who knew I could have hauled those sparkly harem pants out from the back of my wardrobe and fit right in?)
Then some general RomAus conference photos — check out the gorgeous main workshop room at the Sebel Citigate. And finally, the piece de resistance, the Awards Dinner, where RomAus members are publicly celebrated for their achievements over the past year.

Hey, Monique – thanks for ‘fessing up — you were awesome, BTW! Gosh, it was such a great night. I felt heaps more relaxed at the thought of fronting up to a heap of new faces on Friday morning after the dinner on Thursday.
Maree, it was lovely to meet you at the e-list dinner. Crumbs, though not sure about the pix you took of me (the bubble blower). Loved seeing all the others, though.

I’m sorry, I’m truly a shocking photographer and if you don’t like the photo, I’m happy to remove it! BTW, I still chuckle over the whole bubble in the glass thing.
