Scent Of A Man
By Maree Anderson
The one woman who can resist him is the only woman he’s ever wanted….
Joseph is an Anglian noble living in a harshly religious society where the Council and their clerics enforce chastity, and women are oppressed and treated as chattel. Overnight, Joseph undergoes a rare transformation and becomes a Scentinel, a man who exudes powerful sexual pheromones that make him irresistible to females. His people believe he is evil and will execute him on sight. He’s on the run, starving and desperate. He has nothing more to lose–or so he believes.
Liliana is a “morally corrupt” Europan woman with an agenda. She’s a creature even rarer than Joseph, a Null who can neutralize Scentinel pheromones. Her mission is to do whatever it takes to bring Joseph safely to Europan shores. There, he’ll join Empress Vashti’s elite band of Scentinel spies — provided he survives his training with his sanity intact, and learns how to suppress his pheromones at will.
And falling in love with the man she must ultimately betray was never part of Liliana’s plan.

Ms. Anderson has crafted a truly enjoyable story from the simplest of premises. We all know part of sexual attraction is based on scent, but what if a man smelled so good that women were compelled to throw themselves at him to the point of taking what they want, whether it is offered or not? It’s a simple and unique concept that I found to be very entertaining. Joseph isn’t much of a hero to begin with – spoiled, rich, and as is the custom in his fanatically religious country, saving himself for his bride on their wedding night. The irresistible scent comes upon him overnight and he’s branded as the devil’s spawn and cast out.
Send in Liliana, the one woman on the planet who is immune to Joseph’ scent. She’s been sent to rescue Joseph from his own people for a nefariousness purpose I won’t reveal. Liliana might be immune to Joseph’s scent, but she isn’t immune to him.
As they say, opposites attract, and that holds true here. Both Joseph and Liliana are valuable because of their unique traits, and are caught in a web of intrigue with seemingly no path that will lead to happiness.
No spoilers here, but I’ll say that Joseph rises to the status of hero in the end, and working side by side with Liliana, they find their path to happiness.
The story is ripe with political, religious and moral undertones with a hint of fairy tale thrown in for good measure. Add some good old fashioned fornication, and you’ve got a winner.
I give SCENT OF A MAN 5 stars and put it on my keeper shelf.

Scent Of A Man is the story of a man whose scent drives every female within inhaling distance crazy. They can’t help themselves. He’s a Scentinel – what a delightful play on words!
I don’t want to give away the plot so just let me say that this is a highly entertaining, well written book. You won’t be disappointed. Oh, and did I mention that it’s also a very hot read?

In Scent Of A Man, Maree Anderson weaves a compelling tale of dangerous desires and forbidden love. Privileged Joseph Godwin, born and brought up in a sexually repressed society where women are considered chattel of their menfolk, has his future torn from him when he becomes one of the reviled Scentinels – a man no woman can possibly resist. His only salvation is to trust his enemy – Liliana, a woman and a warrior from Europa.
Confident, experienced and the only woman able to resist his intoxicating scent, Liliana is unlike anyone Joseph has ever known before. Scent Of A Man is a wonderful erotic journey of two people from very different cultures who must work together to overcome prejudice, betrayal and the fragile vulnerabilities of their own hearts.

Joseph Godwin is an Anglian noble, born and raised into a society that oppresses its women. All well and good… until Joseph discovers the day he dreamed of losing his virginity and becoming a man has become his worst nightmare. Turns out he’s a Scentinel; the scourge of the earth–the spawn of the devil according to Anglian law. His very scent sees even the most chaste of women become depraved and shameless hussies who lust after him without restraint. His father, Lord Godwin, is a cruel and vicious oppressor who turns on his only son when Joseph’s fêted coming of age reveals his true Scentinel colors. Only Liliana, a Null–a one-of-a-kind woman who renders his scent void in close proximity–is able to save him. She is a gifted warrior, but is a pawn to the Europan Empress Vashti, who has sent Liliana on a mission to retrieve Joseph so that she can use him for her own nefarious schemes.
Maree Anderson writes a riveting, original tale of lust and betrayal, love and redemption. SCENT OF A MAN is an erotic, fast paced story that is beautifully written, the characters all too believable. I highly recommend it =)

If you want a little spice and beautiful romance in your life, I recommend ‘Scent of a Man’, by Maree Anderson.
In my busy life, it’s not that often a story grabs me and I switch everything off and read it cover to cover. I couldn’t put it down. Then I dream about it…
It wasn’t only the steamy/romantic bits (that I re-read over a few times), it had a fantastic story, plot, setting and characters. The author has clearly done a great deal of research into the times, as the historical flavour was reflected throughout the story.
I confess, I have another book by the same author but I am scared to start because I won’t get any work done.
Highly recommended :-)
